Amels to unveil "Limited Editions" at Monaco 2005
Vlissingen: Amels, for
25 years a leading superyacht builder and a member of the Damen
Shipyards Group, will reveal at the Monaco Yacht Show a new concept
for the future: LIMITED EDITIONS.

Like all Amels custom yachts, LIMITED EDITIONS are designed
by the world's leading talents for the sole purpose of giving pleasure
on the water. But with a difference. . .
In this lightning-fast age, time is more precious than ever to
people of affluence. Amels has created LIMITED EDITIONS for those
yachtsmen who are willing to build a yacht with timeless flair and
superb quality, but which has been designed on a platform of proven
Amels naval architecture and engineering.
With hullform, scantlings, outfitting, and general arrangement
exclusively defined, a LIMITED EDITIONS yacht still leaves each
client a welcome degree of personalization.
LIMITED EDITIONS have the same quality, seakindliness, maneuverability,
systems, at-anchor stabilization, and superb finish as Amels' custom
yachts. But they can be delivered in less time and more economically.
The first in the LIMITED EDITIONS line, the 52-meter AMELS 171,
is designed by Tim
Heywood, whose body of work has redefined the superyacht form,
and emphasized outdoor as well as indoor pleasures. The interior
is designed by Laura Sessa, who has created a style that is smart
and eclectic.
The AMELS 171 concept was born in 2004, out of the custom-built
Amels 52-meter LADY
IN BLUE, a yacht with a larger interior volume than other yachts
of similar length, achieved through extending the superstructure,
and an interior that features a rich variety of earthy materials
and eight rare woods used in stunningly inventive ways.
Construction of two AMELS 171s is already under way.
Amels has already demonstrated the value of a time-and-cost-saving
program when, between 1997 and 2004, it launched six yachts in the
"TIGRE
D'OR Series."
Designed by Terence
Disdale, the six were built with essentially identical hulls
and technical systems, and similar interiors. From the 50-meter
TIGRE D'OR to the 52-meter AIDRE, as a group this award-winning
concept proved that economies of scale can benefit both owners and
a shipyard.
In summer 2005 Amels has under construction three other superyachts:
a 58-meter
by Andrew Winch,
a 64.5-meter by Terence
Disdale, and a 68.5-meter by Walter Franchini,
and is completing refits of two yachts of 52 and 56 meters.
